"Urban legend....Or at least it doesn't bother me..."
She suddenly gripped the counter and stood there in shock when he kissed her, walking away. Her nails dug in to the wood and her knuckles turned white, using all the will power she had not to go after him. She took a breath and closed her eyes, refocusing herself and turned, grabbing a skillet from the cabinet then went to the stove, lighting it with a match before adding olive oil. She turned hearing him and took all the ingredients putting them on the cutting board and started to chop them up.
"would you um....mind seasoning the rabbit meat?"

"Sure thing, what kind of seasons would you like me to use my dear?" Thorne made certain to slightly brush his finger along her hand, flirting had been one of his favorite past times when he was young, and now it was just as amusing, even fun. He hoped she wasn't going to be mad at him for it, but he knew she was enjoying it, he could see it in her eyes.
"So why is it you want to suprise me?" Thorne knew there weren't many dishes one could make with rabbit, but he knew for certain that whatever she was planning it had to be good. Or atleast he hoped it would be.

"Whatever you like....I'm not picky, jsut nothing too spicy...."
She almost dropped everything when his fingers gently went over her hand. She knew he knew it was torturing her. And all at the same time she felt comfort by it. It had been a very long time since she had any one touch her the way he was. But all the same, she was keeping herself under control. If there was anything there between them, she wanted to take it all slow. What was the rush anyways, they only had what, eternity at this point? She shook her head, washing away the idea. She must be going mad, him wanting her? Ha! Plus it sounded like he was still very much in love with his wife, she didn't want to cause him pain.

"Well I think a slight hint of rosemary, some paprika, and a very small dab of ginger should liven the meat up, I don't want to over power it." Thorne said, then with the swiftness and almost expert like movements of a master chef, he set to work on the meat, measuring his spices and applying them carefully to make sure nothing was too spicy. He decided the spices were just right and smiled to Rose.
"I believe that will do it for the spices, anything else?" Thorne loved working in the kitchen, for some reason it had always given him a bit of peace from his otherwise chaotic life. He hoped this would turn out to be a good start on this new world. though he knew that, as always, nothing lasted forever, and this was certainly no different.

She looked at him and gave a soft smiled.
"In the pan please..."
She continued to cut up her vegetables, taking her time to let the meat cook. She gave a gentle sigh, zoning out almost as she continued to chop them up.

Thorne did as she asked, wondering if she was really paying attention, she looked as though she was a bit zoned out. "So are you going to tell me what we're making yet or am I to be in the dark the whole time we're cooking?" He knew she would probably not tell him, but he had to joke about it and pick at her.

Rose wasn't focused, she just stared at the cutting board, slowly cutting up the onion. It took her a minute before she answered. She took in a breathe and turned looking at him, blinking a few times.
"I'm sorry..."
She smiled softly.
"No, I'm afraid not. I'm leaving you in the dark."
She turned back around, going back to chopping and zoning in and out.

Thorne chuckled, he knew she was going to do that. He couldn't resist asking though, he knew she would probably keep him in the dark, but he figured he had done enough to help and headed outside to enjoy the nice night. "I suppose I will go out and pick some flowers for the table. Be back in a bit." With that, he headed outside to go pick wild flowers to make a nice little table garnish for their dinner.

Her body slowly relaxed feeling his presence leave the room. She heard him just in time to give him a nod. She felt herself calming now. She turned to the stove, stirring the rabbit meat before adding all the vegetables and garlic. She then went to her room, grabbing some clothes and changing for dinner. She put on a black dress, with a v-neck. It was simple yet elegant. She walked to the bathroom, fixing her hair before walking back out to the kitchen stirring the meat again.

Thorne wandered around the woods for about an hour, finding flowers he could use for his table presentation when he ran across a wild bed of roses. He smiled, remembering his fondness for these plants which used to cover fields in his home world, and decided they would be the center piece of the table. He took great care in picking the right ones and finding flowers that accented them perfectly, then headed back to the cabin, and knew by now dinner had to be done.
As he walked back in, he saw her in her dress and smiled, placed the flowers on the table in a vase he had set up, and went to change into a better outfit than his hunting clothes. Within a few minutes he was wearing his royal robes, the ones he hadn't worn in over a hundred years, he was amazed they still fit him. The green and gold colored regal garments seemed to glimmer softly in the light as he sat down at the table awaiting Rose.

Rose looked at him and smiled, she was plating the food. She had already set the table before he came in and lit some candles. She turned off the stove before grabbing the plates and walked over, setting his plate in front of him and hers at her seat.
"I hope you like white wine...."
She took the bottle from the end of the table, pouring them each a glass before sitting down and looking at him.

"I've never had wine before, thank you Rose. So whats on the menu?" Thorne could smell it, it smelled wonderful, more delicious than anything he had smelled in who knows how long. The last time he could remember a dinner like this it had been with a family he was staying with on another planet, before he was found out and had to go. Thorne hoped he could stay here and live in peace with Rose, something about her made him smile, and that was something he barely did anymore.

She looked at him and smiled, giving a light laugh.
"It's my version of a stir fry....I just substituted in rabbit meat."
She raised her glass.
"Cheers...."
She sipped her wine slowly before picking up her fork and starting to eat. She glanced at him once in a while, hoping he liked it. Cooking was about the only thing she had to do around here besides when she went out to hunt of course. It was something she enjoyed a lot and was happy Thorne enjoyed it too.

Thorne smiled and ate up, he had never tasted stir fry like this before. Rose was a wonderful cook, probably one of the best he had ever seen. Thorne smiled more around Rose than he had smiled in a long time, and he couldn't exactly explain why, but at the time, he didn't really care anymore. Thorne finished his stir fry and took his plate to the sink, then sat back down, sipping at his wine. "You look beautiful tonite Rose. I think that wonderful look suits you." Thorne wondered what she would think of his compliment, he hoped it would make her happy.

Rose finished a few minutes after him. She stood and took he plate, also placing it in the sink. She had continued to glance at him through the entire meal. She came back to the table, smoothing out her dress before she sat down, pouring herself another glass of wine. She slowly sat back in her chair and sipped it as she looked at him. She smiled at his compliment.
"Well thank you Thorne....and might I say you look very handsome yourself, but I don't suggest you go out in public like that...."
She gave a gentle chuckled, sipping her wine again. It had been a while since she had drank that much and was starting to feel a little tipsy.
